At my work I have been on a 3 year campaign to clean up. I have adopted the mantra of use it or lose it. If I have not used something over in 3 months, I get rid of it. This may include the action to sell, donate, recycle, throw out and the unfortunate decision to postpone. I postpone when I put the item into the outside container to deal with it later. The outside container is full of lots of items.
Since some of the items at work have monetary value, this has proven to take more time than I would like. These items also crowd the outside container. As I want to sell things and the task to find a buyer is a difficult one.
However, I have accepted that because these materials and equipment have no utility to me anymore, that I am willing to sell them for at a deep discount. I would rather have something sold at a discount than sit around taking up space and adding no value to me or the company.
My goal is to get the minimum level of materials, tools and equipment needed to sustain maximum profitability, organization and efficiency.
